ANI Thailand occupies a white-sand beach on the quiet island of Koh Yao Noi, with the limestone towers of Phang Nga Bay rising from the water in front of it and jungle at its back. The whole estate is reserved for one party at a time.

The buildings take their cue from the Lanna architecture of northern Thailand: steep pointed rooflines, glass-walled pavilions and intricately carved timber, softened with lanterns and low, easy seating. Ten bedrooms are spread across five guest houses, so a group of up to twenty can drift between company and privacy as the mood dictates.

Days here organise themselves around the infinity pool, the sunken lounge deck and open-air dining in half a dozen settings. A double spa treatment room with jacuzzi, a well-equipped gym, a pool table and an outdoor cinema complete the picture.
