Belvoir Castle is Regency architecture at its most assured, threaded with Gothic Revival detail and set above 16,000 acres of manicured parks and woodland. From its ramparts, the farmland of Leicestershire unrolls to the horizon in every direction.

Taken in its entirety, the castle immerses guests in the full pageantry of nineteenth-century Britain. The state dining room, libraries and galleries hold an art collection with treasures reaching back to medieval times; frescoed ceilings sit within gilded mouldings, and the saloon and ballroom carry some of the finest Rococo and Baroque ornament in the country. Fourteen state bedrooms sleep twenty-seven guests, supported by a chapel, a billiards room and a private drawing room.

The grounds are their own occasion: Japanese, Duchess and Hermit's gardens, a three-mile promenade walk through the woods, a swimming pool, a tennis court, and both a landing strip and a helipad. Few settings in England carry an event, or a family gathering, with such ease.
