Naam Sawan sits on the private Cape Yamu estate on Phuket's quiet east coast, where the lawns run down to a private beach and the limestone cliffs of Phang Nga Bay rise from jade water beyond. The villa is the work of Philippe Starck and Jean-Michel Gathy, and it shows: a vast living and dining room under a vaulted ceiling anchors the house, opening on every side to gardens planted with frangipani and dotted with sculpture.
Five en-suite bedrooms are dressed in designer furnishings, four with king beds and two of those convertible to twins, alongside a media room with a full cinema set-up and a sofa bed. The house comfortably takes ten adults and four children, with trundle beds available for younger guests. Within some 1,864 square metres of villa on nearly five thousand square metres of grounds, there is room for everyone to disappear.
The 30-metre pool runs the length of the seafront with a swim-up bar and shallow platforms for children, and kayaks and paddleboards wait on the beach. A villa manager, private chef and housekeeping team run the house, with daily breakfast included, and guests may use the wellness, dining and sports facilities of the five-star resort next door. Mornings begin with sunrise over the bay; very little else is asked of you.
