56 Welbeck Street is a Victorian townhouse in Marylebone, a few streets from Marylebone High Street, Regent's Park and Oxford Circus. It holds seven private residences, one above the next from the lower ground floor to the fourth, and it has kept the things worth keeping: original Victorian detail, generous sash windows and the proportions of a private London house.
The same hand runs through all seven. Oak floors throughout, collectable mid-century furniture set against the Victorian bones, prints by contemporary British artists on the walls. Every residence has its own kitchen, a bathroom with bath and shower, and a super-king bed; several add a utility room with washer-dryer. There is no lift in the house, which is worth knowing when you choose your floor, and worth the stairs when you reach the top.
The residences run from 531 sq ft to 962 sq ft. Six are one-bedroom homes for two, rising floor by floor, with light-filled street views lower down and the rooftops of Marylebone at the top. The seventh, Apartment One, is a duplex across the ground and lower ground floors, with a private planted terrace, a guest cloakroom and a second room that serves as a single bedroom or a study, sleeping three. All seven are taken on request, with rates confirmed at the time of enquiry; tell us your dates and how much room you need, and we will put you on the right floor.
